Whitening and brightening your smile is easy. Here’s everything you need to know.
We’ll check the health and colour of your teeth before we do your scan. We’ll ask a few health and lifestyle questions to figure out if it’s safe to whiten your smile. If not, our Australian dentists may need to address any issues like cavities or gum disease first.

Yes. Your teeth whitening experience with us is fully customisable. You can select from our smilogy shade menu to achieve your desired level of whiteness.
It’s tempting to wear the gel for longer than the recommended time, but this can look unrealistic and make your teeth transparent (see through).
Teeth whitening can last anywhere from six months to two years, but you can choose to do little top-ups if you keep your trays. Avoiding things that stain will keep them whiter for longer!
There are several different reasons, including the natural aging process. Smoking, as well as certain food, drink, and medication can stain as well.
Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to achieve the results you want. The smilogy whitening treatment takes up to 3-10 days to achieve sparkling smile success.
If you want to whiten your teeth, you have to update your dental work. Teeth whitening only works on tooth enamel and could leave your mouth mismatched.
We don’t recommend it. This is because it’s a bit more difficult to get the even results that you’ll love. We’d love to see you once they’re off so we can complete your smile makeover.
Teeth whitening with smilogy starts from $275. This price will vary depending on the level of customisation that you require.
You only need to see us once at your initial 3D scan. The whitening process is done from the comfort of your own home.
Treatment is continuous and takes up to 3-10 days, depending on the advice from your smile expert. Once complete, you won’t need more treatment for another six month to two years, but you can do monthly top-ups if you choose.
When done correctly, teeth whitening is safe. However, there is a slight risk of gum sensitivity or over-whitening if the gel is left on too long. Ask our friendly team for further information.
We use Colgate Optic White Professional which does not generally cause any pain. However, after treatment, you may notice that you are more sensitive for 24-28 hours.
We are not currently able to offer smilogy teeth whitening services to children or teens. While the chemicals used for teeth whitening are regulated, they can be harmful for those under the age of 18.
It’s best to avoid getting your teeth whitened if pregnant or breastfeeding as the chemicals could harm your baby. We’d love to see you in the future!

Using the kit
- Brush your teeth with a fluoride toothpaste
- Put a small drop of gel in your custom made tray for each tooth that needs to be whitened. (Avoid overfilling the tray)
- Place the tray with the gel into your mouth and over teeth, pressing gently against the tray with your fingers to put it into place.
- If gel oozes out as you press the tray, use a cotton swab to remove excess gel from your gums and gum line
- Wear tray for 30 minutes once a day, or as instructed by your dentist
- When time's up, remove the mouth tray & brush your teeth with a wet toothbrush to remove any whitening gel.
* For the best results, refrain from eating & drinking for 30 minutes after treatment. Avoid tobacco & any 'stain causing' beverages (eg coffee, dark colas & red wine) during treatment.
Cleaning & storing the kit
- Rinse the mouth tray under cold water
- Use a wet toothbrush to clean any whitening gel left in the tray
- Store the mouth tray in the storage case (provided in the full kit) & keep in a cool dry place.
- Store the syringes at room temperature. Do not freeze & avoid exposure to temperatures above 30ºC.
Are there any side effects to be aware of?
In some instances, patients may experience mild sensitivity which should subside 1-3 days after treatment ends. To minimise this, try the following:
- Use a sensitive toothpaste during the treatment period
- Try whitening every second or third day, rather than everyday
- Avoid hot or cold beverages 30 minutes after treatment.
- Don't allow excess gel to stay on gum/lips
- Try using less gel on the mouth tray
If more than mild sensitivity occurs discontinue use and get in touch with your smilogy dentist.
Can anyone use these kits?
The professional whitening kit is not to be used by women if pregnant or breastfeeding. It should only be used under the supervision of a licensed dentist. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
